How does life jackets on airplanes inflate by just pulling 2 cords on both sides of the jacket?? Incase if the life jacket doesn't inflate, we need to blow through a pipe. How come air doesn't go out throught this pipe once inflated??

I had just gone outside to hang up a bird feeder and yellow jackets starting swarming around me. My daughter was screaming from inside that they were crawling up my sleeve and on my back. I know better than to hit a yellowjacket..lol, so I stayed calm. The only thing hanging on my porch that I could think of was a hummingbird feeder that , of corse, has nectar in it. Do yellow jackets go after that? They are still hovering outside. The hummingbird feeder has been there for about a month & this hasn't happened before.
Hey guys...I forgot to add....we are on the second floor!

I've tried several sprays (yellow jackets, hornets, wasps) and nothing seems to work. The yellow jackets only die if I soak them. The spray isn't working on the nest -- a crack in the masonry of a raised flowerbed -- and the yellow jackets keep coming back.

I have two down jackets and I have no idea how to store them during the summer. Can I just vacuum seal them in the plastic bags? Would that flatten the jackets?
